UNDERSTAND THE DECISION
Your underlying policy matters. MCO and ECO cannot be purchased together on the same underlying policy. We’ll help you understand the differences.
Area-level results can differ from losses on your farm. Coverage and payments depend on policy terms and calculations; no payment is guaranteed.

BEFORE WE TALK
Call Hanford before putting new production in the same bin. We can discuss arranging documentation of the existing grain. If you have already mixed crop years, contact us promptly about the next steps.
MCO and ECO cannot both be elected on the same underlying policy. MCO considers area-level operating margins; ECO uses area-level revenue or yield measures, depending on the underlying coverage. Ask your agent how the products fit your existing policy.
No. MCO uses area-level yields and specified input and crop prices. Your actual costs or losses may differ, so a farm loss does not by itself guarantee an MCO payment.
The 2027 MCO election and the winter wheat sales closing date discussed in Hanford’s fall update were September 30, 2026. That date has passed. Contact us to confirm your existing elections and any options available for your crop and county.
No. USDA authorized additional interest relief for eligible policies with premium billing dates from July 1 through September 30, 2026, generally up to an additional 60 days or the policy termination date, whichever comes first. Confirm your statement with Hanford.
Planning information reviewed October 15, 2026. Confirm your current deadlines and eligibility with your agent or FSA office.
